Very Good

Location, local facilities, good selection of restaurants and pubs, ample parking, terrific views, secluded but friendly.

Hotel reception staff fairly indifferent and uninterested in their actual reason for being there to friendly welcome and assist guests. Restaurant menu fairly limited in choices.

Really loved St Mawes!

The location is fantastic. It's almost like in a movie. The walks to the castle and to the nearby pubs are really great. The town was really quiet and it allowed me to sooth down for just a night. I was surprised to see my room had a balcony and the view was breathtaking!

I thought the interior design of the hotel needed a little update but overall the premises are very nice and clean.

Lovely harbour view hotel for the money

Lovely position overlooking the bay and very good value for money. .The breakfast buffet choice was great with a reasonable selection of foods and delicious fresh fruit salad. For the money, it was a great little hotel. Im sure an upgraded room wouldve been nicer. However, we wanted something cheap and cheerful for the night and thats what we got

Small compact room, lumpy bed. The paint job in our bedroom (103) was poor. Patches of painting missed on the wall in the bathroom anove the toilet. Peeling paint on the skirting boards had just been painted over and not sanded first. Sloppy work. The dinner service orders stopped at 7.30pm and the bar was shut when we came back from dinner elsewhere at 9.30pm. This was on a Friday night. I guess they can't afford the staff when it's quiet and out of season, however, a reception team member couldve poured a drink if needed.

Good but could be a lot better.

Perfect location on seafront. Nice room with lovely balcony. Dog friendly(ish).

Staff at meal times just didn’t seem to care. They seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than actually serving. When we stayed before dogs were allowed in all of the restaurant, this time we were told we had to sit in the corner away from other guests. The whole place could do with a little TLC.

Amazing, memorable stay at the ship and castle hotel

We stayed in a standard double room ,it was lovely and clean, a modern feel with home comforts,the staff were amazing ,the house keeping staff tended to all our needs,the breakfast was out of this world ,the waitresses were lovely and had no problem me being a vegetarian,..everyone was so professional.the break is just what we needed and yes ..we will definitely be returning to the ship and castle hotel .,thankyou to all the staff for a memorable few days X

Not much we didn't like ..the room was a little to warm for us ,but was easily sorted,our room was directly in front of a pub ,so yes was a little noisy ,but the noise is to be expected for the hotels location

Right on the Harbour, all the staff are very friendly and...

Right on the Harbour, all the staff are very friendly and appear to like dogs which was fab, and all areas are dog friendly....

Rooms were very hot (how is this a problem, you may ask?) but with a Big dog and husband it could get very warm at night... I turned the radiator down and window open throughout the stay but room was hot hot hot..... not a dislike, just an observation...

I was very disappointed with the room as it was a mess on arrival dirty towels on bathroom floor and not cleaned bed was not made properly and spare room was not cleaned and room not hoovered in the morning I had full English breakfast which was cold which I left so had no breakfast which was paid for

Comfy bed but not much else.

Bed was soo comfy

No parking outside which became an issue for 3 nights. Shower was not hot enough. Bathroom far too small. Too far to our room with cases as after the lift you have a flight of stairs.

Fab location, great value, lovely staff – but popular with the oldies!

Lovely property and great staff in a fab location. The staff are fantastic – every single person I encountered was friendly and welcoming. I was kindly upgraded to a room with a peep of the harbour, and enjoyed the view – big thanks for that :D. The hotel is also pet-friendly, and everyone gave my dog Maddie a lovely welcome and made a big fuss of her during our stay! However, it's worth noting that the hotel does seem to attract a certain kind of older guest, which does affect the atmosphere and the menu options a bit. I only ate on-site one night out of three as I didn't much rate the food, but that's more down to personally preferring healthier/lighter/more adventurous options – there wasn't much if you try to avoid dairy or want to eat vegan or free-range, for example. However, others seemed to be really enjoying their food, and what I tried was well cooked.

Everything feels a bit 'end-of-season' and in need of a deep clean and a bit of maintenance – BUT I visited at the end of the season and on a very good rate, so that's fair enough. Better soundproofing would be a BIG bonus. I had awful neighbours one night who caused a number of issues all evening, then proceeded to wake me up shouting in the corridor very early in the morning. But there's not much a hotel can do to mitigate against the bad behaviour of entitled, inconsiderate Boomers!

Excellent value for money, comfortable hotel

Extremely good value for money, nice hotel in a great location. Staff good, a pleasant stay.

Forced to be picky I would say the scrambled eggs were a bit dry at breakfast! Not a massive issue, it's a thoroughly nice place to stay and I would recommend.

The room was quite dirty. Their was mould in the bathroom. The room smelt of dog. The room also smelt damp. I appreciate the room was cheap but it don’t cost anything to keep the rooms clean.

Stay was fine.

View was great. breakfast was fine. Room was smaller than anticipated for the price.

Breakfast was a buffet, so we helped ourselves - however the room was understaffed and when things ran out (eg coffee), there was no-one available to ask. Bedroom was small for the price, when compared to other venues we stayed in on the Cornish Coast, however the view was great.

Nice location Nice lady on reception at night- time

Shower broken. Bar staff disappeared at night so went to pub next door to get a drink. Staff at breakfast not interested, bit rude to be honest. Keep meaning to write to ask for some money back as I paid lots of money for a tiny room stuck up in attic with a broken shower fitting so couldn't have a shower and struggled to run a bath.

Good value for money, very pretty location.

Lovely location overlooking the harbour, the staff were polite and helpful.

This hall and stairway needed a vacuum, the shower was awkward to get in and out of, the door folded inward. However the stay was good value for money.
